How To Create, Download & Upload Zoom Recordings
How To Create, Download & Upload Zoom Recordings
This document guides you through starting a Zoom recording, downloading it from your Zoom account, and uploading it to Panopto for teaching.
- First, you’ll need to open up the Zoom app and log into your L&C account using SSO.
2. Select “New Meeting”
3. Then click the “Record” button and select “Record to the Cloud”.
From there you can teach like normal. When the class is over, end the meeting and your Zoom recording will begin being uploaded to the cloud.
- When it’s ready for download, you will be notified by email. Click the link provided.
- You will be taken to the Zoom website. You should see the recording there. Click on “Download”
- You will potentially see multiple files begin to download. Only concern yourself with the .mp4 file. There may be multiple .mp4 files created. Each .mp4 file will show different cameras and/or screen presentations. Choose the .mp4 file that best suits your needs.
Once the file is downloaded, you will need to login to Panopto. Panopto can be reached by going to https://lewisandclark.hosted.panopto.com/ or using the link that Law IT emailed to you. Once you arrive to the login page make sure that “Acceptto” is selected from the drop down box. Then click “Sign in”. Your login credentials will be the same ones you use for your L&C email. Please be sure to omit “@lclark.edu” from your username.
*NOTE: If you have an alias email address, your username will be lc2x-xxxx and NOT the alias.
If you used the link provided by IT you should automatically be redirected to your class folder but, if not, head over to your personal Panopto folder for the semester and click on the class folder you’d like to upload the recording to.
After you find the right folder, bring down the “Create” tab in the upper left hand corner and click on “Upload Media”.
Then simply drag and drop the .mp4 file into the window that appeared and the upload will begin.
Once it’s uploaded, you’re all done! You’ll see that it will be “processing” for a while but it is still safe to close the window if you want.
