Paying Fines: Cash or Check

Explains the law library process and procedures to Circulation Assistants for paying fines with cash or check.

Answer

Circulation Assistants cannot enter payment for fines in ALMA. When a student wants to pay their fine with cash or check, you need to get one of us from Collections & Access (Brian, Sarah H, Sarah J, Liana).

If Collection & Access staff aren't around, you will need to take their cash/check payment and give them a receipt. The navy and gold receipt book is in the cash drawer. This new book does carbon copies, so the first thing you need to do is make sure the protective flap is between the page you are using and the rest of the book.

Next, you will fill out the receipt with the date, student name, lclark email address, student Id#, and the monetary amount of their fine. In the 'For' section, you'll list fine. Please mark cash/check appropriately as payment type, and add your initials as the person who took the payment.

Once you have completed the receipt, please give the white copy to the student.

Here is an example of how you should fill out the receipt of the fine for visual reference:

I have also added a general visual example to the inside cover of the receipt book.
